Heiress of the Raven

Author’s Note: A few months ago I began to rewrite the Harry Potter books from a feminist (re:Hermione’s) perspective, patterning the style after the late, great storyteller Marion Zimmer Bradley. However, in the process I came up with a whole back-story for Minerva McGonagall, which was far more original and, for me, interesting. I had a beginning and end point and have been happily holding on to Minerva’s hand as she’s taken me through her world.

In addition to Bradley’s Morgaine and Kassandra, Minerva was inspired by such wonderful literary female characters as Tenar, Eilonwy, Eowyn, a whole host of other mythological heroines, and of course, the real Minerva McGonagall.
